HOW TO SUBMIT

Email submissions to: submit@hcquarterly.com *** Attachments not in Microsoft Word or OpenOffice.org Writer will not be opened. Art should be submitted as jpegs; however, other formats will do as long as we can open them.

Place in the body of your email the following: 1) your name 2) the titles of your submissions 3) a short bio of yourself. Note: all information must be stated clearly. Finally, do not send us cover letters - we will not read them.

Submission Info

HCQ is a quarterly magazine; submissions are read year-round. Further, simultaneous submissions are accepted. If you wish to remove a submission for consideration, please notify us asap at: submit@hcquaterly.com.

Should you miss a current issue's "reading period" (approx. one week before the quarterly issue-out date), your submission(s) will automatically be considered ahead for the following quarter, or issue.

Issue-out dates:

January 31st - Winter Quarter
April 30th - Spring Quarter
July 31st - Summer Quarter
October 31st - Fall Quarter

Submission Guidelines

  • 3,500 words (prose)
  • 50 lines (poetry)
  • no genre (i.e. sci-fi or fantasy)
  • 10 pieces of artwork at a time (no galleries)
  • submitting multiple times is O.K.

Note: HCQ reserves the right to edit submissions.
